A family tradition, extended
Dr. Satheesh Vasudev’s approach to chiropractic care didn’t start in a chiropractic clinic — it started in an Ayurvedic one. He trained under his father at Vagbhada Ayurveda Hospital in Karunagappally, then went on to complete a postgraduate degree in Shalya Tantra (Ayurvedic surgery and orthopaedics) at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, before specialising further in Marma therapy — including a term as Marma specialist at the Government Ayurveda District Hospital in Pathanamthitta, and four and a half years treating patients at the Atreya Ayurveda group of hospitals in Moscow. Chiropractic technique, for him, is a second discipline layered onto that foundation, not a replacement for it.
What Marma therapy actually is
Marma points are specific junctions in the body — points where muscles, bones, joints, ligaments, and vessels intersect — that classical Ayurveda identifies as concentrated centres of vital energy. Stimulating or releasing tension at these points, through precise pressure or manipulation, is a distinct technique from Western massage or acupressure, though it shares some conceptual ground with both. Dr. Satheesh uses Marma therapy to address the soft tissue and energetic component of a structural problem, before or alongside adjustment.
Where chiropractic adjustment fits in
Not every structural problem responds to oil therapy and Marma work alone. Manual spinal adjustment addresses the mechanical alignment directly — and pairing it with Ayurvedic bodywork means the surrounding soft tissue is treated at the same time, rather than as a separate, disconnected step. It’s a combination particularly suited to chronic lower back and neck pain, postural imbalance from long periods of sitting or standing, and cases of spondylosis where Ayurvedic treatment on its own hasn’t given lasting relief.
Conditions this approach is used for
Dr. Satheesh’s clinical focus spans musculoskeletal conditions more broadly — disc prolapse, sciatica, rheumatoid arthritis, fracture and joint dislocation recovery, and chronic tendonitis and bursitis, among others. Each case is assessed individually; chiropractic adjustment is one tool within a broader Ayurvedic treatment plan, not a default first step.
Booking a session
Chiropractic sessions with Dr. Satheesh are scheduled alongside a physician consultation, so structural adjustment and Ayurvedic treatment are coordinated as one plan from the start. Get in touch to arrange one.
