Every programme at Ayurdeva opens with a physician consultation, so treatment is matched to your constitution — not only your diagnosis. Below are the conditions we see most often, and how we typically approach each one.

Spine & Spondylosis

Chronic neck and lower back pain often traces back to spondylosis — wear on the spinal discs and joints that stiffens movement and radiates pain into the shoulders, arms, or legs. At Ayurdeva, treatment starts with a physician consultation to map exactly where the degeneration sits and how far it’s progressed. From there, we build a protocol around Kati Vasti (a pool of warm medicated oil held over the lower back) or Greeva Vasti (the same technique for the neck), paired with therapeutic massage to loosen the surrounding muscle. For long-standing cases, this often runs alongside a short Panchakarma programme rather than a single session, since deep-seated stiffness responds better to sustained treatment than to one-off relief.

Arthritis & Joint Disorders

Joint pain that gets worse with cold weather, morning stiffness that takes an hour to work out, swelling that doesn’t fully go down between flare-ups — these are the patterns we see most often with arthritis and other joint disorders. Njavara Kizhi, a poultice of medicated rice cooked in milk and herbs, is the classical response: applied warm and massaged directly over the affected joints, it works to reduce inflammation while nourishing the tissue rather than just numbing the area. We combine it with herbal oil application (Abhyanga) tailored to your constitution, and for chronic cases, a structured internal herbal course to address inflammation from within, not only at the joint.

Stress

Long-term stress rarely announces itself as one symptom — it shows up as disrupted sleep, a racing mind at night, tension held in the shoulders and jaw, or a general sense of being unable to switch off. Our approach centres on Shirodhara: a continuous, steady stream of warm medicated oil poured across the forehead, which has a measurable calming effect on the nervous system within a single session. We pair this with Abhyanga (full-body warm oil massage) and practical changes to daily routine — sleep timing, food, and a simple home practice of pranayama (breathwork) — so the calm from a treatment actually carries into the following weeks, not just the afternoon after your visit. Some patients also benefit from hydrotherapy — a warm Jacuzzi bath session — alongside Dr. Parvathy’s training in clinical hypnotherapy and Pranic Healing, layered onto the core Ayurvedic protocol rather than replacing it.

Anxiety

Anxiety responds well to Ayurveda’s whole-person approach, because it’s rarely just a mental symptom — it usually comes with digestive changes, disturbed sleep, and physical restlessness. Dr. Parvathy’s protocols for anxiety combine Shirodhara with Sattvic dietary guidance (foods that calm rather than agitate the nervous system) and Dinacharya — a personalised daily routine covering wake times, meals, and rest that gives the nervous system a predictable rhythm to settle into. Where it fits a patient’s temperament, she also draws on her training in clinical hypnotherapy and Pranic Healing alongside psychotherapy support. For some patients this includes a short residential stay at our Irinjalakuda retreat, where the structure of the daily schedule itself — yoga, meditation, and treatment at fixed times — does as much work as the therapies themselves.

Neurological Disorders

For patients recovering from a stroke, living with a nerve disorder, or managing a neuromuscular condition, Ayurvedic treatment is always built around close physician supervision — this is not a category where we recommend self-directed home remedies. A typical programme combines Panchakarma detoxification with targeted Abhyanga to specific limbs or muscle groups, medicated oil therapies aimed at nerve tissue, and a structured recovery timeline tracked in consultation with your existing medical team. Because progress in neurological recovery is measured in weeks and months, we usually recommend an in-patient stay at our Irinjalakuda retreat rather than single outpatient sessions, so therapy, diet, and rest can all be managed under one roof.

Women’s Health & Postnatal Care

Postnatal recovery in the Ayurvedic tradition — Prasava Paricharya — is a structured 6-to-8-week programme of daily oil massage, herbal support, and dietary guidance designed to help a new mother’s body recover fully, not just rest. Beyond the postnatal period, we treat a broader range of women’s health concerns: hormonal irregularities, reproductive health, and the physical toll of long-term stress on the body’s cycles. Every plan starts with a consultation with Dr. Parvathy to understand what stage you’re at and what you’re hoping to address, and — particularly for postnatal care — we recommend planning this as a residential stay, since consistency day-to-day is what makes the difference.

Skin & Dermatological Conditions

Chronic skin conditions are treated from the inside out in Ayurveda — the visible symptoms on the skin are read as signs of an internal imbalance, not just a surface problem to cover. Treatment typically combines herbal formulations taken internally to address the root cause, topical applications suited to your specific skin type and condition, and — where indicated — a broader internal cleansing programme to support the process. Beyond clinical skin conditions, we offer face and hair care, rejuvenation packages, anti-ageing programmes, and clinical cosmetology procedures as part of a wider wellness plan — using the same herbal, food-first approach rather than isolated cosmetic treatments, supported by our own line of herbal and cosmetic products.

Chiropractic Treatment

Not every structural problem responds to oil therapy alone. Dr. Satheesh Vasudev’s chiropractic sessions pair manual spinal adjustment with classical Ayurvedic bodywork, treating alignment and the surrounding soft tissue together rather than as two separate problems. It’s particularly suited to chronic lower back and neck pain, postural imbalance from long periods of sitting or standing, and spondylosis cases where Ayurvedic treatment alone hasn’t given lasting relief. Sessions are scheduled alongside a physician consultation so structural adjustment and Ayurvedic treatment are coordinated as one plan, not run in parallel without coordination.
